FAQ's
Here you'll find answers to some of the most common questions we receive from people for further insight. If you can't find the information you're looking for, please don't hesitate to contact us and we'll be happy to help you out!
What are your beliefs?
For our therapists, everyone's beliefs are their own, but Hills of Mercy Counseling at it's foundation is a Non-Denominational Christian-based office. Our Christian therapists offer Faith-based services (which will be listed on their About page) that align with Biblical ideals and are here to guide you and your family with such, to the best of their ability. Of course we don't discriminate and welcome everyone from all beliefs and backgrounds and want to work to the best of our ability to support and guide you towards a fulfilling life.
How does billing work?
Our fees vary depending on the type of counseling service (between $95-$195), contact us directly for more detailed information. Our therapists individually accept various insurance plans, you are welcome to confirm if we accept your plan and are encouraged to directly contact your insurance provider to learn about your in-network and out-of-network benefits. We understand receiving mental help can be difficult with financial stressors so we offer sliding scale based on individual circumstances. Another way we try to help financially is by offering superbills, most PPO insurance plans accept superbills for out-of-network reimbursement at a certain percent of what you pay out of pocket. Paying privately can also benefit you by not having your insurance be involved in the amount of sessions you can have and it keeps your mental health diagnosis private.
What's the difference between an Associate Therapist and a Licensed therapist?
Associate therapists are pre-licensed professionals that have completed their education and training and are approved by the Board of Behavioral Sciences to provide Psychotherapy. Associates meet with their clients and then have a Supervisor to go over the care of their clients with outside of sessions. Supervisors are experienced and licensed therapists that provide guidance to their Associates. Choosing an Associate Therapist is a wonderful option because it provides a reduction in fee and essentially you have two therapists involved ensuring you are receiving quality care.
What should I expect from my first session?
During your first appointment, we will discuss your goals for therapy, review your background, and begin to understand the issues you’re facing. This is also an opportunity for you to ask any questions about the process.
What is your cancellation policy?
We require at least 24 hours' notice for cancellations to avoid a fee. The only exception to this are IEHP clients who are not charged due to insurance limitations, however, two late-cancellations/missed appointments will result in termination of therapy. Please contact us as soon as possible if you need to reschedule or cancel your appointment. You can contact our office by call, text or email Sunday-Friday and leave a message.
Is my information kept confidential?
Yes, your privacy is our priority. All sessions are confidential, and we adhere to strict confidentiality guidelines. There are exceptions only in cases where we are required by law to disclose information. We have to have a Release of Confidential Information Form signed and completed before we discuss anything pertaining to your health and sessions with other health professionals or agencies.
