The Neurofeedback Process

Understanding what to expect from start to finish. Our structured program is built on science, guided by clinical expertise, and designed to deliver real, measurable change in how your brain functions.

How Neurofeedback Works

Neurofeedback harnesses the brain's natural capacity to learn and adapt — a process called neuroplasticity. Here's the core mechanism behind every session.

Your Program, From Start to Finish

Each step is intentional and builds on the one before. Your clinician guides you through every phase, adjusting as needed based on your brain's response.

The Journey

1

CONSULTATION

Initial Consultation

Your journey begins with a one-on-one consultation with Emma Rubin. This is an opportunity to discuss your goals, concerns, history, and what you're hoping to achieve through neurofeedback. There are no wrong answers — this conversation shapes your entire program. We'll review your health history, current challenges, lifestyle factors, and performance goals to ensure we design the most effective program for you.

2

ASSESSMENT

QEEG Brain Mapping

The centerpiece of our program's foundation is the QEEG (Quantitative Electroencephalography) — a detailed brain map that captures the electrical activity across different regions of your brain. Conducted in-office, this non-invasive assessment takes approximately 60–90 minutes. The resulting brain map identifies your unique patterns: where your brain may be over-activated, under-activated, or showing dysregulation. This data is used to design a protocol specific to your brain — not a template, but a truly personalized training plan.

3

PROTOCOL DESIGN

Personalized Protocol Creation

Based on your QEEG results and consultation goals, your clinician designs a customized neurofeedback protocol. This protocol specifies which sites on the scalp to train, which frequencies to reinforce or inhibit, and the structure of your session schedule. Your protocol is the roadmap. It's reviewed and adjusted throughout your program as your brain responds and your goals evolve.

4

TRAINING

Neurofeedback Sessions Begin

With your protocol in place, training sessions begin — conducted in-office and/or remotely depending on your program plan. Each session typically lasts 30–45 minutes. Sensors are placed on your scalp, and you watch or listen to media that responds to your brainwave activity in real time. Sessions are relaxing and require no active effort on your part. The feedback loop does the work — your brain naturally learns to seek the rewarded state. Most clients notice subtle shifts in focus, mood, or sleep quality within the first 6–10 sessions.

5

MONITORING

Ongoing Clinician Review

Throughout your program, your clinician actively monitors your session data and symptom changes. Your protocol is not static — it evolves with you. If your brain is responding faster than expected in one area, we adjust. If certain symptoms are shifting, we recalibrate. Regular check-in conversations ensure your training stays aligned with your goals and that you're progressing on the right trajectory.

6

COMPLETION

Program Review & Next Steps

At program completion, your clinician conducts a comprehensive review of your progress — comparing pre- and post-program data, discussing the changes you've experienced, and outlining recommendations for next steps. Some clients complete their goals and conclude training; others choose to continue with additional sessions or a maintenance plan. The changes gained through neurofeedback are lasting. The brain has learned. Your results belong to you.
